GT48DXLS hour meter- does it diaplay more than elapsed hours?

I was putting my mower away and noticed the digit 8 had appeared in the hour meter. It wasn't the elapsed time, since that is now 4.5 hours. I looked in the manual and couldn't find any code or reference to the hour meter. Is it capable of displaying more than just elapsed time, and is this some sort of warning or error code?

You are supposed to change the oil at the 8 hour mark.Maybe it's a reminder.I'm at 6.8 hours and have not seen any reminders so I'm stumped.

I looked at mine today and there does appear to be an 8 on the left side of the display.I believe it is actually an hourglass.Go figure.:confused3:

I'm only at 5 hours after this last mowing section. The "8" or "hourglass" on the left is constantly blinking. Here's a picture ...

It's an hour glass, and is on most meters. It blinks when it is in use, ticking away time.

I was looking at my hourmeter the other day and it changed from 68 to 69 and the hourglass came on at the same time so I guess it was telling me it is coming due at 700 hours (70)
I had just changed the oil anyway. Maybe the battery has to be disconnected briefly to reset it but I haven't tried that.

Now Plowhog, That was funny....
I clicked on your photo and when it popped up I automatically reached out to wipe the dust off it..... geeez....
