I don't know about you, but I live by myself with the nearest neighbor about 600 ft away and I sometime worry about injuring myself and not being able to get help. You know, tractor overturns pining you, chainsaw accident, accidentally kicking out the car props. Well, not any more.
Guardian Alert 911 is a small pendant that you wear around your neck under your shirt that is a cordless 2-way phone with a single button for auto-dialing 911. It has a one year battery life.
It connects to your phone line just as a cordless phone would. Unlike the device advertised on tv, there are no monthly charges, no contracts and you can talk directly to a 911 operator without having an intermediary relay the information.
It's an ideal protective device for the elderly, infirm or people like us that might be in possibly dangerous situations. It has some nice features such as a battery test feature and even a way to test the system. You press it and you can actually hear your phone lines dial tone and then the device's voice says "system check. Everything okay." That's great for checking the range which is about 600 feet depending where you positioned the receiver device. Upper stories in your home is best.
Another nice feature is that it dials *82 to disable your caller id masking. I've used mine only once, accidentally. A button on my shirt accidentally pressed the call button while I was leaning over the counter. I fumbled and pressed the cancel button but not until the call was placed. A few seconds later I had an incoming phone call from the 911 operator asking "What's wrong?".
About $170, it's well worth every penny. I've had mine for two years now and am happy with it. Just google "Guardian Alert 911" to find one.
