Looks like I jumped the gun a bit on changing all my filters and fluids on my RTV 500....finished swapping the engine and transmission fluid over to synthetic and changed all the filters. When I got everything buttoned back up I looked at the hour meter....I've got a walloping 30 hrs on it. Turns out you don't put many hours on your buggy when you run from point A to point B and shut it off, more time was spent snow plowing than anything else...out of those 30 hrs it probably spent a little over 20 hrs plowing snow last winter.:confused2:

I'm sure it didn't hurt to swap them out and now I know I'll be good for a long time.

I changed my RTV1100 with 53 hrs and thought that was early. But I agree with you it can't hurt and can only be good for a new piece of equipment. Nothing like getting the first bits of assembly dirt and initial wear out asap.
I also went synthetic, using Mobil Truck Diesel 10-40. Now have 117 hr since the change and the engine runs very nice. Great little 3 cylinder Kubota has.
My first and only diesel and it is impressive.

Did mine at 40 hours; and I liked it :D

I'll switch over to synthetic at the 200 hour, probably around 195 hours?

Spank me, changed mine at 56 hours. Engine oil a little dirty but the trans hyd looked pretty good.

Six hours; one swat per hour or 1 swat per minute ???? The Dantes attitude-control officer will contact you shortly; he is the the guy that has the furry forearms and the big hands..

What is that crap the factory puts in those machines? Never mind all the lube, glue and preservatives all being washed into the oil pan...I just changed the engine oil on my ststers 2011 Wrangler (3.8L), it looked like army coffee.

The lowest bidder products are good enough I suppose.

With ATVs, UTVs, RTVs I always change the oil once a year regardless of the hours-even if I don't use it that year.

On a side note I wonder if the hydraulic drain plug also holds the engine in there.....that plug is a monster. I'm not sure what size it is but the only thing I had to take it out was a 1-1/8" socket.

I also couldn't figure out what the extra drain plug was for on the side opposite the engine oil drain plug.....it seems to be a drain plug but there wasn't any fluid in it.

It was the first item rolling down the assembly line

Dixie, I've already forgot and don't have my manual in front of me, but what little memory I have is that there are two drain plugs for the engine oil in the RTV so I always drain both sides. Just the same on the two Kubota tractors I have owned as well.

I thought that and I removed both but only the plug on the driver's side drained anything...the passenger size was dry as a bone.
