I am going to build a smaller guest home (1,600 sqft) on my 15+ acre lot and then a few years later build the main home (3,200 sqft). What I want to do is design and utilize just ONE septic tank and the same leach field for both homes. This would save me money later on when it comes to build the main home since the tank and field would already be installed back when the guest home was built.
The County said it is OK with it but I need to install and design a system that would accommodate BOTH homes. Just a larger leach field and larger two-compartment concrete tank. I priced it, it's less expensive to buy and install ONE 2,500 gallon tank than installing TWO tanks (1,000 gallon and 1,500 gallon). My questions are in regards on how to tie-in the two homes?
1 - Is it better function wise to have one tank for the guest home and one for the main home but utilize the same leach field?
2 - Are there any negatives to having the main 4" sewer line from the guest home run for 150+ feet before it hits the septic tank?
3 - How do you tie in the 2 main sewer lines from each home prior to the tank? In other words, I don't want to have to cut and hack into the PVC pipe when the main home line is ready for install.
4 - Can I install a bull run valve to open up a line to another leach field when the main home is ready? Like the above, I don't want to hack into existing lines when the time comes. I would rather have it "flip a switch" setup since it's less expensive than digging and hacking into PVC lines.
5 -Any issues with the Infiltrator leach field systems? Looks like a better and easier DIY setup than the PVC and rock leach fields.
