Hello. I don't know how many of you have ever seen the female gypsy moth in the process of depositing her egg masses. Here in Western Maryland the catapillers did a lot of leaf eating this year. Next stage was the moth stage and now the laying eggs for next year. The trees in the pictures are hickories in my backyard. Seems the Oaks beside them didn't have rough enough bark. Also, the majority of these masses are on the south east side of the tree protected from the elements. Thought I would share a few pictures. EL
