Gypsy wagon / ex riding mower project.
The goal is to make a Gypsy style wagon using an old Pargo golf cart and a Wheel Horse riding mower.
The picture is what I have going on so far. But the project needs to be changed up as we are moving in a new direction.
The engine is a Kholer command 18 and the transmission is a Tuff Torq K61A.
What I would like to do is put it up on wagon wheels with the rear 3 feet in diameter and the front 18 inches.
Also I would like to move the engine to be over the top of the transmission.
I thought I could do this by running a shaft with a pulley on each end and then running two short belts from the engine to the top pulley and from the bottom pulley to the trans.
Right now the engine is in the middle of the cart and if two people ride up front it will often break traction.
Also I want the middle open so the box of the wagon would have room for a little bench seat.
Ideally it would haul four riders. The shell will be made out of bead board to help keep things light.
My questions are:
Do you guys see any major problems with this plan?
My concern is mainly the trans.
Will the big wheel in the back even turn?
Am I crazy to think it will pull four people?
If that trans won't work do you have any idea's of what could be matched up with my Kholer command?
Or should I simply start looking at other drive line options..
Speed is not a factor. 5 mph is fine
Thanks in advance,
