Massey 1735M / Ford 2N
We've had a 2n doing work around our 60 acre forest / farm for many years and decided it was time to upgrade. While useful and reliable the 2n just wasn't getting things done in a timely manner. I could work on our 1/3 mile long dirt driveway for an entire weekend with the box blade and make some improvements, but it has never been a really nice driveway no matter how much time I spent on the 2n working at it. Last night I put the same box blade on the 1735M and had a 150Y stretch of our road looking almost perfect in ~2hours. Where the 2n would move and bounce the 1735M just stayed planted to the ground and flattened out ruts & ridges that had existed for many years. Both tractors have liquid filled tires, calcium chloride was put in the 2n before we got it. We had the Massey filled with 110 gallons beat juice in total front and rear.
Did some reading here before we purchased and am just really happy with the new tractor.
Thanks for the information.

. . . and it's already broken . . . three point hitch attachment on the rear right side of the rear diff snapped off after ~300 yards in the forest pulling my box scraper in 2wd. Didn't even feel it break. Went to turn around, lifted the 3-Point and it was hanging funny. I am heart broken. My old Ford 2n has pulled that run > 100 times over the years and never broke a sweat. 7.8 hours on the tractor. :-(. Let's see how long it takes them to fix it.

I had a 1941 9N about 20 years ago and I loved that machine. One rod knocked and it needed a new crank, but it just kept running.

I know the feeling about the breakdown and you have my condolences. About three years ago I bought my used Ford 1715. Twenty minutes after I started it, the transmission stopped shifting. It was stuck in second so I effectively had a 3 speed (using the range select) no reverse tractor, which is as close to useless as you can get. I paid $8500 for the tractor, a 60" box blade, 60" flail mower and a 20' deck over trailer. Hauled it to the NH shop and several thousand later I was back in business (I had them fix a bunch or other stuff while they had it apart.). At first I thought I had gotten taken, but I have yet to see a 4x4 tractor with FEL of similar size and power any where near that price including what I paid at the shop. As a matter of fact I seldom see a 25-30 hp CUT for sale at all.

Oh my that's not good.

I hope your dealer is able to help you out. It has to be very unsettling to have something so new broken, I feel for you.

Do you have any pictures?

Here is the broken bit. To add salt to the wound the tractor had 5.2 hours on it when we brought it home so I got less than 3hrs of use on it before this happened. I just can't wrap my head around why this part was the weak link that broke. Also makes me worried that even if it gets repaired properly this could just happen again. I feel like just returning it and asking for my money back. But I'm pretty sure lawyers would have to get involved for that.

And I have the 35hp version of this tractor, the least amount of power available. Are the guys with the 40hp-60hp version of this tractor breaking these too? I'm just bummed.

Welcome to TBN, so sorry to hear about the breakage of the new tractor, I hope the dealer and manufacturer take care of it for you.
I read a post here a week or two ago about a similar break, don't remember whether it was a MF or other brand. The only way for them to fix it right is a new housing.
For rougher usage I turn to my old TO 35, like your 2N it's a solid old hunk of iron. I don't venture very far into the woods with the Mahindra simply because of the very exposed HST fan (common to most if not all sub compact HST tractors) Mahindra is reserved for loader work and light mowing.

Oh I'm sure it needs a new housing. There is simply no reason it should have broken. If it's that delicate it's worthless as a farm tractor. We'll see what happens now but to say my confidence in this tractor is broken would be a fair statement.
