I keep all of my toys in the garage (except for my cars). Today I came home and there was a very strong gasoline odor. Gasoline odors cause me to panic. After ripping through all of my gas powered appliances I found that it was my Troy Bilt Rototiller. I think the low temperatures that we were experiencing here had some effect on the gas line. Well everything is under control and thankfully my Kubota is OK.

I had a freind here that wasnt very experienced with fires or explosions, he smelled a gasoline odor coming from his detached garage and called me. I went in through a door and saw his 2 day old Craftsman lawn and garden tractor leaking gas well i left and he called me back as i was pulling in the drive way he pushed the garage door opener switch an what happened next was a big flash and the whole door blew across the street.and his weed eater impled itself in his wifes Lexus. After about an hour he fell inot a cold sweat and told me he was about to walk within a few feet of it and use the push button. Glad to here everything is alright best regaurds taylor

Years ago I fill my m/c gas tank right to the top on a <font color=red>hot<font color=red><font color=black> summers day, when I return the cool gas from the gas pumps had expanded..yikes..gas was dripping out of the fill cap,and just missing the motor head. /w3tcompact/icons/crazy.gif

Lesson here---NEVER turn electrics on or off when you smell gasoline- propane - or anything else that makes explosive vapors!! It's always the vapors that go BOOM!!!!

Oh yes, motorcycles and gas! I have been caught a couple of times with these auto shut off gas pumps. Pumping gas carefully into the Hog, and the dang thing didn't shut off. First, there' gas on the nice paint. Second, that gas, no matter how hard you try to clean it up, will leave a little pool in a cranny that will blow back into your sensitive area once you are going down the road. Then... there's that whole thing about gas dribbling down onto the hot engine and exhaust!

This is the reason that I built an outside building (it's small) to hold the gas cans and all the gas powered small equipment such as chain saws, pressure washer, trimer and so on ... also oils and diesel fuel cans ... the large storage of Diesel is also near this area ... I keep very little combusables in the shop ...
I hope that this never happens to any one ... I'm so glad you are OK ...
