Had intruders last night

Went to the cabin this weekend. At 5 in the morning the neighbor called and said a "funny looking" couple was heading towards my place. I jumped into my trousers and went looking. I found them in my garage/shed where they were searching the place. (I usually hide the keys there) They were obviously "high".
I found a pice of wood and scared them away. They jumped into a car they had parked some distance away, roared off, through the sheep fence, and away they went. The neighbor and I later found the pick-up abandoned with two flat tires.
I am wery happy that I did not have a gun in my hand when I found them, you get very steamed up when such things happend. I might have been the one in trouble now, with a person shot by me, lying in the shed!

If they were stupid enough to leave while someone had a firearm, what would you do, shoot them?

wouldn't shoot them, unless ?????? but what would have happened if they had been armed??? as long as they run or leave or whatever, i wouldn't shoot them, but if i had picked up a big stick and they decided to take it away from me and put it places i would rather not have it put: i would want a gun...i don't believe in fighting anymore..

Agreed to an extent. Although if you are armed, and you proceed out of your house and "have" to use you weapon, things may not look good for you in a court of law.

I'm only stating what I've been taught per the legal system in owning firearms.

You might investigate how the law looks at your rendering their vehicle useless before you call for help. ;-)
