I blew one of these hoses Wednesday last week.

Decided to replace all three and had to break the connections in this box w/o putting to much torque on the old steel lines.

I started spraying with PB Blaster 3 or 4 times a day. Ordered new cables from DisCount Hydraulics Thursday morning. They were shipped Thursday afternoon and I got them today UPS Ground. Pretty good. I made a tight fitting 7/8" "box" wrench from an el cheapo Titan 22 mm. After 4 days spraying they came off easier than I thought they would except I had to cut one hose in two because I couldn't free the female swivels on either end of it.

So do you think the PB Blaster Works?

And do you think it works better than applying pretty much any thin solvent as often as you did?

Looking at the pictures I may have tried cutting the hoses and using a deep socket to get them off.

It is what I had so I used it. Since they came loose all I can say is that it worked good enough. I use it on a lot of stuff.

I always give stuff like that a little grease but it won't likely be me that realizes the benefit. Maybe it's why few people do it. My Dad never allowed me to put any fasteners or fittings together without grease.

That was plan B if I had trouble with this easy approach. I was a little leery of trying a no turning back approach right of the bat since only one hose actually leaked and I also wondered about all that metal grit from the cutoff wheel getting up into the steel line somehow. I would have had to cut thru the fittings. This isn't something I do every day so I go careful.

I have heated hoses up before right by the threads that look that rough. 15min job removing all 3.

I do like your custom wrench.

Rainy afternoon - a good time to kill time and post pictures of what I ended up with. Rerouting eliminated the hose pinch point between dozer frame and blade C frame.

Originally the tilt line went back to steel and ran along the C frame. The steel line ended in a 90 and supported the tilt flex hose.

I changed the steel line over to hose and made a bracket to hold the 90 and support the tilt flex hose.

I wondered about heat. Good to know you can do that. I looked up the oil flash point - about 200 C IIRC. Didn't know if that was just in open air and what would happen in a closed tube. So - how hot ? Do you get it red ?? Thanks

I think the fittings on the hoses are grade 8 steel. I've never had one give me a problem (other than the hose being so stiff that I can't bend it). It does seam like the manufacturers love to put hoses in places where a wrench doesn't fit.
