I heard about it on the way home from work yesterday, and teared up. I feel like I lost a family member. What I like most about that show is that the brothers reminded me of folks back home in New England where I grew up, and in Mass where I went to college. They used the classic self-depricating and good-natured teasing approach typical in the immigrant communities like Boston, where you have to give everyone a hard time and have fun doing it (after college, I learned to be careful with this approach in other parts of the country, as not everyone catches on that you're joking and having fun).
When I moved south, hearing Car Talk always reminded me of home, and no matter what, those guys could cheer me up and keep me entertained. As they probably would have said, after an hour of their show, anything else has got to sound good! I'm sure that "big dope" Tommy is off somewhere laughing and having a good time.
