Karen is half Cherokee and her family lives on both sides of Oklahoma and Arkansas. They don't get along, they resent her success and all her degrees where most of them never finished high school and they are dirt poor. I doubt we will visit any of them, but I am curious to see the area. Not sure if she is up to it or not, there are a lot of bad memories for her of the Reservation and how they treated her mom when she left there.

Pretty similar to my experience. My sister-in-law is 100% Micmac indian (a Canadian tribe). All of her family moved to the reservation in Canada because they give better handouts then the US welfare system. When my brother passed away, the reservation gave each of them a stipend to attend the funeral. The relative that drove them down was given an additional amount to cover his driving. He in-turn made each of the passengers give him an additional percent of their stipend so he could make more money off of them. I have no use for any of them and we avoid them entirely.
The trip to Arkansas sounds nice. It's a beautiful state!
