Like curly Dave I to have a few trees that are windblown and hung up. For some reason I wish them down but was to cautious to venture near them with a saw.
On the weekend I spent three days out at the play farm clearing the overhangs from access road and trails. The neighbour told me to notch the back of my windblown hang ups and walk away. After the next wind storm they should be down. This I did at the end of the day and retired to the firehill fire and watching the ducks munching corn. As this was happening I could her creaks and cracks from the trees I notched. This morning several were down and the others leaning more.
I also got a nice log off of another windblown pine that finally made it all the way to the ground.
