Irvingj, i hope this isn't starting to look like a hijacking :) i notice you keep your machine pretty clean, i'm hoping to be able to do the same with mine.

regarding those 'long hoses' the 2410's might not have as much of a problem, (as you probably know) the actual valve body is located under the floorboards. there are no hydraulic hoses running to the joystick. on the other hand, we'll have to wait and see how the cable linkages hold up. so far, so good.

i thought exterior jacket damage was a minor issue with hydraulic hoses, as long as the steel braiding was still intact and thus protecting the interior layers?

on my machine, one of my the connectors was hooped, but the rest of the problem seemed to stem from the fact that whoever put together the hose assembly simply didn't bother to tighten the fittings. they weren't finger tight, but they were far from snug, and as you can see, they leaked like sieves.

mine leaked from new. (at the loader disconnects)

first dealer repaired at 20 hours, this picture taken at 47 hours.

the second dealer did a better job, but i still had one leaking screwed connection afterward. i broke down and worked on it myself.

it may or may not be good now, but its certainly a lot better. i hope this doesn't turn out to be a chronic problem. hate to say it, but it really looks like a quality control issue.

other than that i guess the only annoyance is the lack of a light or buzzer to remind me that i have left the e-brake on:ashamed: btw, it looks like there are quite a few unused spaces in the warning light panel.

all things considered, i still give it a resounding thumbs up. now that i own one, and have put it to work:D, its easy to see why these things command the prices they do.

Dang, that looks like that could be dangerous if you lost your footing and hit the opposite pedal in one of those hairy situations I often find myself in!

Sorry I didn't take some pics before I replaced the hose.... it had some small cracks in it on the outside of the bend, sort of "weathering," similar to what would indicate near-future replacement, had it been a belt. The leaks had been going on for some time, making a wet spot on the floor, but I couldn't pinpoint the source.

I had already tightened a fitting --about 2 weeks after I bought it-- which cured the first drips, but then there was this steady one later on. You may be able to see where I added a 4" piece of plastic tube to that long hose to protect it where it ran across & over the steel joystick control support.

I had done that right after I bought it, along with rerouting some other hoses to reduce or eliminate potential or actual chafing. Some of the original hose routing left me scratching my head- looked like a set-up for problems later on.

As far as keeping it clean, I guess I'm just a bit **** about that-- comes with owning older motorcycles, I think-- always looking for that danged leak!:D

it was no big deal, i always get in from the other side anyway.

and it certainly doesn't look like that anymore:laughing: in fact, i doubt that it ever will. btw, turtle wax works very nicely on the hood.

also, i bought a little mechanics telescoping mirror for checking the hydraulic fluid with the backhoe on.

Irvingj, i guess we were typing at the same time.:)

I am in the same boat, I hate the sound it makes when you try to move w/ the e-brake on! I am going to try and make a switch that will activate when the pedal is on. I have 20 hours on my unit and have yet to wax it. Guess I will be doing that tonight after work. I will even spray some rubber preservative on the hoses to help protect them from the UV rays when outside. My rear wheels, around the bead are starting to show rust color:mad:. The hood had a chipped spot by the FEL hose from it rubbing it and I have already touched up that spot. Now the rubber pads on the FEL for stowage of the stand are falling off. One of my tail light bulbs don't work, I never even used them yet, hope it is just a bulb! I do love how powerful and quiet this machine is. Just like everything else though, some little extra time could have gone into the design of it, but after all said and done, it does what it is made to do. And then some.

Wacky; mine is an '09 model, it needed some wax.

i always wear earplugs when operating mine, so i don't hear any e-brake noise. actually, its kind of embarrassing that its taking me so long to get it through my noggin to check to see that its off.

far as the other stuff, nothing made by man is ever going to be perfect, but as far as the overall design of the machine, i'm quite happy.

regarding the signal light bulb, i almost tore one of my taillight assemblies right off the first day... so things could be worse. i did manage to get it pretty well straightened back out though:D and my loader storage arms didn't come with rubber pads to begin with... so that's not an issue. my back tires were filled with something (non-caustic i was told) but they put tubes in them anyway, so that shouldn't be problem.

i do like the easily removable screen in front of the rad... very handy with cottonwoods around.

given that this thread started with a hydraulics post, i think the hydraulic system is actually pretty good. the circuitry prioritization makes the controls very workable. i'll have to see about making a video of the backhoe working... it can actually be worked very smoothly with some practice and familiarization of which movements are prioritized in the flow pattern. a little more volume availability to the valve body wouldn't hurt, but i would say they definitely thought things through at the engineering level... from the standpoint of operating it anyway.

irvingj bought one and, from what i read, was happy with it. i'm happy with mine too.:)

Wacky- the 2300-series tractors didn't have those rubber things for the FEL storage feet, but it sure seemed like a good idea to me. I asked my dealer to get me a couple, and he had some right there- apparently many of them do fall off.

No problem! I used alcohol and/or acetone (don't remember for sure which, probably both) to clean all original adhesive residue off the rubber pad, then thoroughly cleaned the painted surface where they'd be put, and used medium (gap-filling) "super glue" --also known as CA or CyA glue-- from my model stuff to stick on to the side of the FEL arms. They've never budged, and it's been well over a year.

They do work to keep the FEL storage arms from rattling; I suspect mine is the only 2310 in existence with those rubber bumpers!:D

rjmack; Don't get me wrong I really enjoy mine, and as for ripping the light off, I also did the same thing you did, I need to find some touch up for that too:laughing:. I bent it back and the next time I used it, I did the same thing and beat it back:ashamed:, it viberates a little more than the right one does. As for the hydraulics on the BH, I noticed that it is hard to move 2 functions at the same time like "crowding" for instance, I cannot use both functions at once. It seems that maybe the valve is too stiff right now, hopefully it will loosen up with use. But it is STRONG! Keep an eye on the bottom of the radiator, mine had some grass and stuff that seemed to make it under the screen and build up on the radiator itself.

irvingj; I know exactly the glue you are talking about. I like Super Jet myself. I grew up in Illinois and my mother showed dogs with Carl Goldbergs daughter, that is how I got my start in that hobby. Of course Carl Goldberg is no more I still have fond memories of my first Eaglet 50:laughing:!
I could only imagine how annoying that rattling might be!
