Happy 2000 Hours!

Well Jinman.. I still owe you that picture of Micky Mouse "The Steer".. he's a lot bigger now.. pushing 1000lbs.

I passed the 2000 hr mark last week.. I might of hit it in 2005 but the doctor grounded me for several weeks after I had emergency surgery the Sun. before Xmas to remove my appendix. The dairy farmer next door had culled all his milk cows for the winter.. and had time to do all my feeding chores for the steers and other animals while I was healing.

I started a new problem list and looked at my 1000 hr thread to see the only additional problem I've had is the PTO brake... probably broken(worn out) from shutting down the square baler too fast when a shear bolt would break on the baler.

So yes.. a bigger tractor is in my future.. but like I said in the first thread.. this has been a great tractor.. and has made a lot of the hard work fun!

Wow! Ken... you are really cranking out some seat time. /forums/images/graemlins/cool.gif

Putting 1000 hours on your tractor in just about 17 months is pretty impressive. I'm just pushing 1000 on mine. Luckily, all my problems have been external to the drivetrain and I really baby the PTO clutch on engaging and disengaging when I mow. That sure seems to be a weak point on our Class IIIs. /forums/images/graemlins/smirk.gif

I'd like a bigger tractor too, but what I really want is a dozer. /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif

"Wow! Ken... you are really cranking out some seat time."

The only problem is.. the Mrs. has to start bending my ear as soon as I come in the door to make up for all the time I'm not in the house! /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif

A lot of the hours come from just doing the daily feeding/chores. Every day.. twice a day.. rain, snow, freezing temps.. I'm on the tractor to haul the feed for the animals.. so M-F that's about 1 - 1 1/2 hours total a day. I shoot for 30 minutes in the morning.. but there's always something that needs attention.. usually pushed to the evening when I don't have a time schedule to get to work.

So say 1 hr/day - 365/year - so 17 months works out to over 500hrs. Wow.. really didn't think about it until I calculated it out.

I did put an old MF65 to work this year too.. I have a helper(works for veggies) using it to pull a disk set while I plowed this spring.. but it's main job was harvesting ear corn this fall. I'd like to plow w/ it.. but the harvester has to be removed first and it seems to be a sizeable task.

Wow, kensfarm...that's incredible amount of seat time. I saw alot of your posts earlier but never realized your on your machine day in & day out. Will probably take me my lifetime to put the hours that you have already put in. INCREDIBLE !!

What are you thinking about purchasing now !! Staying with NH......or maybe something different (JD or Kubota) just to experience the other side....... THE DARK SIDE !! /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif

Hope Your Feeling Better,

Vic

Thanks Vic.. I'm doing good.. taking it easy.. back to work for my day job.. resumed doing my feeding & farm chores.. but put all my projects on hold.

"What are you thinking about purchasing now !! "

I grew up driving an old JD & MF helping my Dad.. later on he had Fords, NH. So.. I'm kinda colorblind.. but the location & service recieved from my current NH dealer.. will probably give them the first shot. I've gone from looking at initially at TN75's to 100+hp range.. def. 4x4.. it has to start when I turn the key.. and get the job done.
