Happy Thanksging

As Americans, we have so much to be thankful for. Its a great day to reflect on this with family, friends and strangers alike.

It is going to be a quiet TG'ing here. Just wife and I, sister in law and brother in law who live next door as far as family. Since we are basically alone, we are fixing a few things and joining next door neighbor for dinner along with 15 or so of their relatives. Best thing will be no leftovers to clog up the freezer and frig for weeks.

Good (or bad depending on the point of view) is that ALL the kids and grand kids will be coming for Christmas including wife's sisters kids and brother in laws kids. Sleeping space might be limited since we both only have 3 bedroom homes so we are looking to place some of them in my motor home and maybe even fix up the shop with some cots. Going to be a fun time for all when they all get here.

I just got back from the neighbors having thanksgiving dinner and man am I stuffed and I didn't even sample half of what was available. There was about 25 people there. Neighbors own an RV camp ground and they invited 2 of their guests from Illinois to come partake of TG'ing dinner with us, they were 92 years young and came down to escape the winter weather. They liked the campground so they decided to stay for a few months. I really enjoyed talking with them.

As for dinner, I had ham instead of turkey but both were available along with sweet potato casserole, 2 types of dressing (I made my mothers recipe of cornbread dressing which was a big hit), potato salad (2 types), broccoli and rice casserole, 5 or 6 dishes that I wasn't sure what they were and my plate was full when I passed them up. So much food and such tight pants.
After we were all stuffed, out came the desserts- pumpkin pie, 4 layer chocolate cake, tira misu, 3 different pecan pies, chocolate pies, lemon cake just to name a few- basically we had 10 feet of table filled with desserts.

I am sure neighbors will be inviting us to come over and help with the leftovers. Too bad none of my cornbread dressing was left, I usually love to eat it for lunch the next day.

Just the Wife and I, and her two boys. Quiet here, too, and all were pleasantly miserable.
