Harbor Frieght PTO finnish mower questions

Been Thinking about getting the for the tractor 5 Ft. 3-Point PTO Finishing Mower as a wood worker, I know that Harbor freight sells a lot of crap, but sometime they have something that works well. With a 20 off that they always email it seems like a good deal.

Wood worker? Assuming that's some kind of typographical error, I should point out that a YM186 only has about 13 horsepower at the PTO, and that the rear hitch is only rated to ~550 pounds. If those facts don't bother you, note the fine print about an additional $90 tacked onto the freight (overweight sur-charge). But the real tell should be the warranty. In my mind, a measly 90 day warranty should speak for itself.

That said, I've neither owned nor operated that particular mower. I did however, very foolishly buy it's cousin; the 5' Chinese (Futon brand) rotary cutter. I was never so glad to get rid of an implement in my life. It was used for less than 3 mowing seasons, during which I spent hundreds on repairs. If I counted the associated downtime, the repair total almost certainly exceeded the original purchase price.

HF is OK for "throwaway" tools. Normally finishing mowers should last for years, if not decades. Doubt you see more then a couple seasons out of this unit.

For $1000, you can have a great quality finish mower, (Italian) delivered to your door. Just saying. My BX1860 is comparable in horse power to your tractor and it is the right mower and the right size.

Thanks, I think that I will give it a pass and watch craigslist for a better finish mower.
