Hard getting it out of four wheel drive

I have a 35a that has 200hrs on it. The only way I can take it out of 4wheel is to back up about two or three feet. It is a problem when moving a lot of dirt a distance, having to take it in and out alot. Left it with a dealer and they couldnt find a easy fix. They say they will have to take it apart to see what the problem is. Have'nt been able to leave it down that long. Has any else had this problem?

I have to ask, why do you wish to take it in and out every cycle? If you are driving extended distance on pavement, I understand, but if your "trips" are not on pavement, just leave it in 4wd.

Unless there are other reasons, such as mowing where leaving in 4wd can cause "scrubbing" in turns, if you are doing work that requires 4wd part of the time, just leave it in 4wd for the duration of the job. You are not going to hurt anything, and it will certainly make your life easier than constantly putting it in and out.

With that said, if you are driving on pavement, you really do need to take it out of 4wd, to eliminate increased wear on the front tires.

Do you have the stock tires on the front & rear? The reason that I ask is it sounds as though the front tires are larger than they should be and are causing the driveline to bind-up which is relased when you back up.

I have a 33DA with turf tires. The front turfs proved to be too light to handle heavy dirt and gravel work so I purchased a set of industrials for the front. They are a little larger than the OEM fronts and have a longer rolling circumference. Therfore they will cause some driveline bind up if I leave it in FWD when traveling. I only keep it in FWD on slick surfaces or when doing back and forth work. I disengage it to travel and especially on hard surfaces. It is a pain but I feel more confident with the industrial fronts. The turfs deflected and bounced alot.

Instead of backing up, try dumping the bucket on the front end loader; i.e., tilt it forward, push the joystick forward; i.e., use the front end loader to just life the front wheels off the ground, and see if it isn't easy to take it out of 4WD then.

Turn the steering wheel sharply while moving and trying to disengage. Works on mine.

Backing up just a tad is the way I have learned to take my TC48 out of 4wd. It is a breeze once I learned this little trick. I chalk it up to just being the nature of the beast, and don't mind doing it this way at all. Now if your machine wouldn't come out of 4wd at all, as I have read about other brands.Then I would say you have a problem. Most times I just have to shift into reverse, let the clutch out until I feel it grabing a bit. Then stop and push the lever from 4wd to 2wd. It is an easy task. Doesn't seem to matter if my bucket is full or not. I am extremely pleased with my TC48, and the way it shifts. I doubt seriously if even the dealer completely disassembled you transmission that they would find anything wrong, or be able to improve on this 4wd to 2wd shifting. Be thankful that you can shift it from 4wd to 2wd. Some threads I have read, people are stating that they can't take their's out of 4wd at all, and it is sitting in their garage still in 4wd, after a long session of trying to shift it out. I think you are fine. The tire diameter question is a good one, as well as the riding on pavement.

My DX33 goes in and out of 4wheel drive with no problem. Doesn't matter if its got a full load on the FEL or no load. As long as I'm moving forward or backwards and not turning sharply. My DX24 was the same, very easy in and out.

I have a 35A also and it's hard getting in and out of 4 wheel. I do as stated earlier in this thread by just lifting the front tires off the ground with the loader bucket. Makes going in and out of 4 wheel a breeze.

My TC29D sensitrack the handle will pop right out of 4 wheel drive but you can tell it is still in, you have to turn the wheels a bit while moving or better yet back up some.
