I bought a used Hardy 12ST backhoe last week and have been scouring the internet for any details or manuals.

From what I understand, Hardy is no longer in business.

Anyone have any specs or manuals for this hoe?

Thanks,
Mike

Hardy was bought by Pronovost. I have the 8 footer with extenda hoe. They were selling them under the Puma name for a while. I had to call them for some parts a couple years ago an they were real good. Parts sat at customs for a while.IMG_0590.JPG

Thanks Btown, I will see if there is any more info under the Puma name.

I have looked and they have done good job of getting rid of pretty much everything about their backhoes and loaders.

Hey Mike,

I am wondering if you've had any luck finding a copy of Hardy 12ST manual/info/etc? I tried to find some info but no luck...

Also curious how much you have used the attachment? Did you install extra support for its use? I see there are kits avail to avoid stress to tractor frame/body.

Thanks

I did not find any documentation on the backhoe.

I ended up buying the Kioti QA sub-frame.

I mounted it a little high as I was having issues with ground clearance, but now my stabilizers are too short once you start sinking in soft soil.

Hi Canadian Mike, I live close to you and have the same tractor as you and I am looking at a used hardy 12st. just wondering how it worked on your machine in regards to weight, hydraulics etc. thanks, Mike

Hi Mike,

This hoe has very low hydraulic flow requirements, I think the min on the tag is 5gpm and the max about 10-12gpm.

The weight is perfect amount of counter balance for loader work and is not too heavy for our machines.

The size of the cylinders is a little small for the size and weight of the hoe/combination, this adds in a bit of a safety margin and I am not worried about hurting either the tractor or the hoe.

As for over all size, I would not want a hoe with any less reach for our size of machine. I have done up plans to convert the dipper stick to a extend a hoe to add some additional reach.

I think the optimal hoe for our machines would a little bit lighter duty with a few more feet of reach. It is not a dedicated backhoe so the size of the cylinders/speed is appropriate.

For the price of these backhoes, I don't think you can find a better match and they are made to last.

Mike

I can't find my pictures, but I moved the hydraulic controls to the seat post. This way, I open the back window, fold the tractor seat down and flip the controls into the cab and bungee the window closed.

This way I can work rain or shine and with fewer mosquitoes and black flies.

I bought a boat seat swivel that I plan to add this year.

Marc-Andre from Pronovost was nice enough to scratch up the manuals for these backhoes for me. Send me a PM if you need a copy.
