i am clearing about 10 acres of thicket with mostly 1-4" sapplings and wondered if a harley rake would work for cleaning up the stumps left after cutting?

A harley rake would do very little to clear out small stumps. They really don't grind anything but dirt and the roots might wrap around it binding it up.

If you could chiselplow it first you might pull up enough of the stumps where a harley rake might clean them out.

thanks aondre,
i do have a chisel plow , also have a maschio heavy duty tiller, just looking for the easiest route. not sure i would try my tiller on that as there are lots of stumps and don't want to fry the clutch on it...that might be an unwarranted fear. still havn't decided if its best to cut and then remove stumps or go for the whole tree. trying to leave as much top soil as possible.

I use my FEL with tooth bar and box blade to remove small trees and stumps. Works pretty good most of the time for very small trees. Stumps are a little more difficult at times. A lot depends on the soil conditions where you live.
I don't think a Harley Rake would do much damage to stumps. Never tried that with one.
