I worked with a landscaper once that had what looked like a Harley Rake with a bigger drum (12-16") with thin steel knife blades on it.

Has anyone ever seen something like that?

I can't seem to find anything but the standard Harley Rakes with 6" drums and big bolt sized teeth.

With the bigger drum and thin metal knife blades, they were able to use this power rake over existing lawn without tearing it up too much. It worked great for blending newly graded dirt in with existing lawn, and I think it would have worked great for taking out high spots in the lawn without completely tearing it up.

Try a search for " Finn " landscaping tools. I had one, about a 10" drum with straight 1/4" wide teeth and it had a second roller to the rear. I am sure they do not currently produce this model but there are many used available.

It is called a "Preparator" I believe. Made by FFC

Would like to see this in person.

I currently spread top dressing with the fel and rake it smooth with a pine needle rake over existing grass, always looking for a better way though.

Nah. This wasn't nearly as complicated as a "preperator".

It was more like a Harley Rake with a bigger drum and smaller teeth.

Bumpdate

After much reaserch, it looks like this rake was an older model of an ATI preseeder.
This is the best and closest picture that I can find

Looking at it closer, it's still more sophisticated than what I need. I don't need a compaction wheel on back, and I don't need any hydraulics for angling. I want a wide roller with narrow teeth so that I can mount a guide wheel on either end and use it to grind off ridges and high spots in my yard.

Does anyone have any suggestions for where I can get a hold of a used and/or worn-out tiller at a good price?

I'm thinking about making my own version of a Harley rake, and a 6-7 foot wide tiller frame would be the perfect starting point. I will use the narrower teeth (like the ATI preseeder) so that I can lightly go over existing grass without completely destroying it, and I'm going to mount guide/depth wheels at either end so that I can set it shallow to chew up bumps and high spots in some yards that I'm working on.
