Very, very interesting. Has anyone thought of using this in stock stalls in a barn. Seems ideal for keeping the floor organized under rubber matting.

Harvey -

Another Harv on TBN!!! /w3tcompact/icons/shocked.gif

Next thing you know we'll get a guy named Bird2. /w3tcompact/icons/laugh.gif

As far as the fabric goes, I'm still anxious to get some. Haven't found a good source, plus the ol' budget sort of fizzled out this year. /w3tcompact/icons/frown.gif

The main property of this fabric is that it lets water through, but stops mud. Guess I'm not familiar enough with stock stalls to know exactly how it would help there, but I'm sure somebody around here does.

Welcome to TBN, Dude! /w3tcompact/icons/smile.gif

Harvey,
Yep already tryed it but it's too slick and the mats slide on it. Better to use lime screenings or something. They hold the mats and still provide for drainage.

Harv,
It would help if it wasn't so slick in that it would allow the urine from the animals to drain away from the mats and also wouldn't allow holes to develop under the mats.

Re: Harv here\'s the pic of that fabric I promised you

I put something that appears similiar to this under the sand in my kids playset this year. It is called landscaping fabric (at least the roll I had for this application). It was only about 3' or 4' wide. It was designed for weed control in gardens/flowerbeds. Does this road fabric also control the weeds in the drives? I'm getting tired of buying Round-up and spraying to watch the weeds in my driveway be greener and grow better than the grass in my front yard. Can't wait till I get a tractor in the spring, hopefully with a FEL, so that I wouldn't have to mow my driveway. Rocks slung from the old Sears make nice big holes in vinyl siding :(

Re: Harv here\'s the pic of that fabric I promised you

For weed control, we stumbled onto another good product. Silt control fabric.

You'll see this stuff at almost every constuction site nowdays. We got a couple of scrap lengths of it from my brother-in-law. It had oak stakes attached to it every 8 ft. Last summer, we layed it down in our garden between the crop rows to cut down on our having to cultivate to kill of any weeds. Man, it worked wonders. Hardly any weeds. It lets moisture through with no problem. The only downside is that if something does root, the roots will penatrate the material.

Getting the material without the stakes posed a problem for us. We searched the Web and found a supplier and got exactly what we needed. The fabric comes in 2, 3, and I believe, 4' widths. This summer we spread the material out between the rows and our weeding/cultivation times we cut drastically.

If anyone needs anymore info, just email me and we'll explain more as to the how's, why's, and where's.

Terry

Re: Harv here\'s the pic of that fabric I promised you

Just to add my two cents to the pile, I have used the road fabric myself. It is great stuff. I had it under my 1000 ft gravel drive for 16 years. When I finally got it paved last year, some of it was uncovered. It still looked like the day it was put down. Keep in mind too that the first layer put on top of it was 70 tons of broken used brick. Even with all the car traffic over all the years it never cut it.
