Thanks for the photos, nothing more satisfying than harvest.

Hope your crop was good. How many of the 450 acres did you have to corn?

Thanks for the pics. I'm also interested in what your yield was? Pretty good year in this area for corn, soybeans not so good. We didn't receive any rain in August when the beans needed it.

Several questions:

1. What's the moisture content at harvest time?
2. Do you store in your own silo or sell directly to the elevator?
3. Do you dry your corn further before selling? If so, how and what's the final moisture content?

Thanks.

Chris

BTW, Love the pics of harvest.

We only raise 70 acres of crops each year. The combine was bought new by my grandfather in 1981 and we've used it ever since. It's got 1300 hours on it now.

We are averaging around 141 bushels an acre. Not bad but we don't put much fertilizer on since the price has gone up so much.

Not for sure on the exact moisture. I'd say around 16-17%. We store all of the grain over the winter in our grain bins and sell it to the local elevator on a cash basis, typically in the spring. Our bins have fans on them that we will run for a month to help knock the moisture down more. By the time we sell it moisture is down below 13%.

I kept lookin' at the pictures and didn't see where the tree stand was... Musta missed it! Or the pheasants flyin' over the combine when they spooked! Needed a telephoto shot of the combine workin' through the rows.

(Just spoofin' - but that's what I used to see grownin' up.)
