I've got a rough idea in my head, to build a fore and aft travel, hyd. adjustable front mounting plate for my post driver. This will be mounted on my M-F 180.

I'm thinking I'll proably doing a lot of the post driving myself, or my GF driving the tractor, when she can... I'm picturing a lot of pulling ahead, or backing up to get the posts right on the nub... I am pretty particular when building my fences.. I'm thinking it will save a lot of gear grinding, someone forgetting to set the parking brake:rolleyes:, and frustration. ;)

Just for now, considering 12" of travel fore and aft. A couple inches sideways doesn't bother me as much as being in line.

I do have a stick of 2", heavy 5/8" walled tubing. I am considering using this for the guide tubes, and heavy walled tubing of the same thickness, approx. 4 to 6" long to go over these, for the slides. A web of maybe 3/8" X 4" between, to tie together, and attach the cylinder to.

I haven't decided on a framework yet to tie it all together.. Need to get some stuff down on paper, and get some measurements...

Has anyone ever built something like this, or possibly have seen one?
