Has anyone heard from Bird?

Bird, my dad's folks had a farm on the hill just south of downtown Princeton from '39 until my granddad's stroke in '54 sent them to Florida. They surely could have known your mother-in-law when she was a young lady (or your wife when she was a young'n), no? Now, the eastbound lanes of 460 go through the house, and westbound, the barn. Who'd've thought they needed a 4-lane in Princeton? Anyway, I hope she has a wonderful birthday and that you are able to make it up there to see her. I'm sure you're bittersweet about selling your farm and tools, but I've been reading what you write long enough to know that the best is yet to come.

Rick, I'd say it was quite possible your dad's folks might have known my wife's family. I'm not sure where in Princeton they lived before 1943 (the year my wife was born) when they built the house up the hill north of Thorn Street (street was named after my mother-in-law's dad). My wife still has two brothers and a sister there (besides the two brothers here in Texas and one near Washington, D.C.); it's a big family./w3tcompact/icons/laugh.gif

And Scott, you have a good memory. The old lady did like dressing up for Halloween and going out to eat. She's in a wheelchair now, and finally went into a nursing home last year (just before having a pacemaker installed), but some of the family goes to see her every day, takes her out to eat frequently, and of course my wife talks to her on the phone a lot. And I'll bet whether we get there or not by Halloween, she'll get dressed up in some kind of costume and other family members will take her out that evening.

As for what we're going to do . . . who knows?/w3tcompact/icons/laugh.gif We've been shopping and seriously considering going back to our other love (besides farms); full time RV living. However, I think we've just about made up our minds to just rent an apartment for a year, take a breather, and spend more time with our mothers; might not have too much more time for that.
