The reason I ask is because I have a 60 Kuhn rototiller that binds the PTO shaft due to excessive angles when fully raised or lowered depending on how I have it adjusted.
My original driveline with slip clutch broke so I installed a regular shaft with no clutch (to finish my tilling) which runs much smoother fully raised or lowered.
Moving the tiller back several inches would decrease the operating angle allowing me to reinstall the proper slip clutch assembly and eliminate the binding.

Lengthening the arms will greatly increase the load put on them and you'll likely start breaking other things. Sounds like you need to adjust the length of the PTO shaft and/or look into some high-angle u-joints for the application.

What about modifing the tiller so the other attachments you might use are in the factory location? I would think that extending the 3ph pin locations would be easier and not change the tractors lifting capability. You might only have to do the lower pins as the top link could likely be lenthed enough thru it's normal adjustment. How far are you thinking? 2-3" or 8-10"?

I would take a look at adding a set of Pats quick attach to your lower links they may just give you the added length, plus it also adds the "quicker" attach factor, it adds about an inch to your overall length shouldn't effect the geometry too terribly bad. I have used Pats system for years and never had an issue.. Good stuff!!

I think it would be best to adjust the top link for less angle on the drive line when the tiller is fully lowered. When raising the tiller in use (with pto turning) limit the upward travel to clear the ground by a few inches. Best to adjust for minimum drive line angle when under load tilling. When fully raising the hitch and tiller turn off the pto. I have found that most tillers have this issue some worse than others. My Deere 673 tiller and 4520 tractor has the driveline pretty well aligned when tilling but raising the tiller up fully with the pto turning adds a little noise. So I just raise it off the ground about a foot while turning and maneuvering.

I would not recommend screwing with the 3PH geometry. You could use a quick hitch or Pat's couplers to extend a few inches and make life easier to boot.

I agree with most opinions. Don't change the tractor. If you need change, do it to the attachment. Then any other attachment you use will properly fit the tractor and the tractor will retain it's intended 3pt geometry. You won't harm the hydraulics of the tractor with longer arms. You'll just limit it's lift capacity and move attachments to a location that might not always be the best.

First off, you need to get the slip clutch back on the tiller to protect not only the tiller but your tractor PTO shaft also. Shortening or lengthening the shaft should not have any effect on binding of the U joint swivels, but if your shaft is too long, it could damage the PTO on your tractor, too short and it could come apart on you. Since you need to get a new shaft anyway, do the proper measurement and get a new shaft that is short enough so you can reinstall the slip clutch, or modify the one you have.
Don't raise the tiller all the way up when needed without disengaging the PTO , as long as it clears the ground that is all you need. If needed, install a limit block on the top so you don't inadvertently raise it too high.

X2 best way to fix the problem

Pat's Quick Hitch will add something like 3-4", and shouldn't cause any other problems.
