Hi all,

I am trying to narrow down what to buy. I thought for sure I would end up with a Kubota BX until I watched Tractor Tim's video on the comparison of lifting capabilities between the two.
But that was a while ago. Have there been any updates to bring the BX more in line with the capacity of the other brands?

Reasons for wanting the Kubota to work out: John Deere is kind of pricing themselves out of the competition for me, and I've heard and seen some things about Massey's reliability and expensive parts.

I don’t see the BX and JD 1-series being proper competition. They get compared because they are the entry level real tractor, for each brand, not because they are really made to do the same jobs. The BX is quite a bit smaller and has the same ratio less capability. Part of the reason I went with the BX is because it could get into places the JD 1 was just too large to squeeze into.

If you're going to check loader capacities make sure to note the differences between the new MSL (self-leveling) loaders for the Deere 1- and 2-series versus the standard non-self-leveling. In some situations there are considerable differences between the MSL and NSL. And it isn't always that one style is better than the other. I guess my point is to not just rely on info around the internet that may be from prior to the MSL introduction because things have changed.

As for the BX series, it seems some models are closer in size to the 1025r, like the BX2370, though the BX1880 does seem smaller in some aspects.

The 1 series JD is quite a bit bigger. I had a BX for 10 years and traded it in for a JD 2025r 2 years ago. At times the bucket size frustrated me on the BX. It was a solid tractor but I like the JD better. One advantage of a BX is they are very common used.

I have had a BX for several years now and like the little tractor but do not feel I would want it to lift much more. It can get unstable pretty easy with the current lift capacity due to its light weight and narrow wheel base.
