looking at a Deere 3720 and thinking that a 16' gooseneck would be best to transport with incase I need to go do something requiring hauling off rubble or spoil pile. Also want to incorporate a +/-50 gallon diesel tank in the gooseneck and not deal with fool, sorry fuel, cans.

Anyone doing this>

PJ trailers seem to have lowest deck but they also heavy trailers - 5300#. Big tex is not quite as heavy but hgher deck height. Kaufmann - high deck.

I've been contemplating the same thing but I want to be able to haul my excavator or my tractor, I like the load trail gz 16. It's a deck over dump with fold down sides. I like the idea of being able to load pallet or whatever from the side as this would be my only trailer. And I like the width of a deckover as all my rear attachments are 7' wide as well as my excavator

I have a 16' Cross Country dump tag trailer. Weighs about 3800# empty. 80" wide. 24" deck height. Can haul 10K. Has 4 D-ring tie downs in bed. However, no room to add a 50 gallon fuel tank.

Over deck puts the CG pretty high up

It's a nice way to go if you can. It saves registering/maintaining another trailer. As you note the trailer can also be used for other purposes. In a perfect world I'd have a nice little tilt bed to haul my skid steer. But it only gets hauled a couple of times per year, and short distances. So being able to load it into my dump trailer is a good option and makes that trailer multi purpose.

I haul my 8k TLB in a 16' low profile dump. It works of as a jack of all trades trailer but it I hauled with any frequency I wouldn't recommend it.
I ordered mine with fork pockets as your space limited with the dumps. Load placement is not idea at all and frequent adjustments are often needed.
Securing the load is also a hassle when hauling equipment in the dump.

After having this trailer for a few years I'm getting the itch to buy a dedicated flatbed since when ever I need to trailer the machine I usually end up needing several attachments.
