I went to my local MF dealer to buy a tractor a few months ago. He sells both Kubota and MF. He had many MF on the lot as well as Kubotas. When I told him I was looking for a tractor & FEL around 40-50HP, he took me straight to the Kubotas. I told him I was interested in a MF. The particular salesman told me that he has had so many problems with the new MF tractors, that he just won't recommend it anymore. I was surprised that he said that. I just figured he maybe made more off the Kubotas, I don't know. If I wanted a MF, he would sell it to me, but he told me I would be much happier with the Kubota. I didn't buy either. Bought a Mahindra instead. Thats all I know. I take what the guy said with a grain of salt. I know alot of people with Masseys that are happy with them. They are not NEW Masseys though.

Figure out what your needs are and you'll find something to fit with MF, NH, Kub, JD, or several other brands. Seems to me that all of the major lines sell quality equipment, but there are many "small" differences that may draw you to one over the rest of the pack. If you have a decent dealer I believe you'll be OK with any of them.

It is pretty much the consensus that the MF is the
no-bells-N-whistles brand .. and possibly #4 behind the big '3'. That gives it a pretty decent ranking. The technology is solid and proven.. and except for the newest models.. hasn't changed much since the 60's and 70's. Some of the newer compacts are starting to come out with a bit more 'chrome' though.. so that trend is starting to change.
Even as far back as the early gas units like a 135.. they were a decent sized and fairly well powered machine. Go back enen farther to pre-MF.. and you se ethe ferguson to series.. 20, 30 and 35, and they were great tractors as well.. verry reminiscent of the ford N series. ( after the great split between ford and ferguson.. etc ).

Ruddy, welcome aboard. As I told you earlier this place is packed with folks who know a ton about tractors and are more than willing to help. Tell them more about the used tractor you are looking at to buy. What year model, the horsepower, what condition it is in, what you plan on using the tractor for. The more info you give them the more they can help.
All I know right now is that the tractor has less than 100 hrs on it and is a 65HP. I will be using the tractor to disk fields before planting. I have a 40HP Case Internation right now and it has a hard time pulling the blades. I was set on getting a john deere, but this offer came along and it is worth looking at. The price is more than fair. What do you think?

Hi Ruddy , Welcome to TBN ! I don't know jack about MF tractors . But I bet if you posted this same question on the MF board here (along with models You're thinking about ) You'd get some very helpful and honest answers to your questions .
