Just wondering who all runs a dairy?

My mom's neighbor is a dairyman. He leases Mom's land to grow silage. I don't know that he has a lot of time for the internet. He's milking about 1000 Holsteins at his location, and raises replacement stock elsewhere. His cows are all on concrete.

An old grade school friend runs a Jersey dairy. She only milks about 75 or 80 cows, and runs them on pasture, which really reduces her manure volume. She's pretty busy too. If I want to get in touch with her, email may take a week or two. Calling her cell phone is faster.

I was raised on a dairy farm and owned and operated a farm for about 10 years. Sold the farm in 1982 but still live on 12 acres of the land (with 3 ewes, 2 sets of triplets so far this spring, a ram and an angora goat - oh, also a few chicken)
