Have You Ever Seen These Tires?

I've seen them before on bigger tractors, but never on a JD ZTR. Tried to get a better picture, but the guy turned off before I could.

Yes, I've seen them around. I believe they are a factory option on the Deere ZTRs. I've read that a lot of commercial lawn care folks have problems with flats and obviously downtime due to flats eats into profits. Using these eliminates that risk.

I think they are a great innovation that makes a lot of sense to me, but I don't know their durability.

They are called Twheels, from what I heard they are pretty good, but they are more expensive than regular tires. Also if you get mud built up in them, it's supposedly chews them up.

The Tweel can be had for many vehicles. Traction and ride are 2 benefits.

Saw 3 ztr's with the tweels today at my local Deere dealer.

My mower came with these when new. Michelin Tweels. I thought the ride was a little softer than the standard air filled turf tire, but for me... Traction was only marginally improved. I ended up pulling them and buying new rims with an AG style tire for more serious traction. I think for the average commercial mowing outfit, having these on the majority of the fleet would be cost effective in the long run though.

I can see advantages in farming/commercial use where downtime is of great importance; on non commercial lawn mowers not really.
