I can a fresh off the truck 3715 for $13750 or a 4715 left over from last April for $15900. The 4715 has sat for a year and looks it. Not a big deal. But I知 just not sure I need it but its always better to go heavier. Is there that much difference between the 2? The one thing I知 thinking about is I occasionally pick up a rock. The most I would mow over is a 2 red bud or locust, but I do have rocks. Both mowers have the laminated tires. Any opinions?

Good Morning Hersheyfarm. I think you will find that your implement ( batwing mower ) is a tad bit outside the "normal" size used by operators on this forum. There just might be a few who use this size, so hang in...........

I think you are comparing a 3" cut capacity to a 4" cut capacity. Of course, the 4" will be heavier duty.

I'd hate to think I had enough brush larger than 3" that I also needed a batwing cutter to be efficient.

Personally, I'd probably go with the 3715.

Whatever you do, I recommend you get it plumbed so that it requires 3 remotes. One remote moves the entire cutter up and down. One remote moves the right wing. Last remote moves the left wing. Makes a big difference to be able to lift only one wing to miss a culvert or stump.

I have an RC2512. I'd characterize it as a 12' cutter one or two steps down from the 37 series. It has a cut capacity of 1 1/2". I am very pleased with how robust it is. I am also very pleased with the cut it provides. I imagine the 37 series would be a beast. The 47? Even more beast.

IF you don't have 3 remotes, the $2,100 savings could be used to add those that you need.

I have a six foot Landpride rotary cutter and a 7 foot finish mower. I can't comment on those batwing models, but I will say that Landpride has significant differences in how well their light duty holds up compared to their heavy duty mowers. You are comparing the light duty batwing with their medium duty mower. If you are just mowing grass, then you should be fine with the light duty mower. If you will be getting into brush and saplings, I think you will regret having the cheaper mower.

The good thing about Landpride is that you can find all the parts for everything that they make at Messicks.com and even better, they are very fast at shipping those parts to you. I've replaced my gear box twice, the stump jumper once, and the blades every other year. I started out with sheer pins and really did a lot of damage with them. Having a slip clutch has made a huge difference in how much damage I cause. But I'm also bush hogging brush and saplings all the time, so it can get pretty abusive.

If that was in reply to my post, all models I referenced are batwings.

I agree that the lighter weight batwing, such as my RC2512, would not be the choice for mowing brush and saplings. I mostly use mine for mowing my CRP fields. I cut them in July and September. There is some brush but it is small. The mower does an excellent job...for my purposes. It also does a wonderful job in our front yard and fields. Flex-wing mowers tend to scalp less.

I have an RCR 2672 mower (6', not batwing, 3" cutting capacity). I have used it for cutting a lot of brush and saplings. With my L5740 I have to go very slowly to cut brush and saplings with that mower. I seriously doubt that tractor would be able to handle much more cutting width. I also doubt the M7060 would handle brush and saplings with a batwing.

Absent a very large tractor (100+ HP?), I'd not think tackling brush and saplings with more than a 7' mower would be a good idea.

But, if someone has the HP for it, would be a lot of fun.

There would only be two reasons I'd consider a lighter mower over a heavier one:

1 - Weight - Can my tractor handle it?
2 - Cost

When I bought my wing mower, the initial plan was to get a M5-111 and a 15' wing mower. It was to replace a JD tractor that was mostly used to run a 10' offset (semi mount) Bush Hog mower. I already had the L5740. The L5740 is just under the size required for the 10' mower. It runs the 6' mower just fine.

In researching, I realized the L5740 would run the RC2512 and RC2515 wing mowers (perhaps due to their light weight?). I felt the thick CRP would not be a good fit for the L5740 and a 15' mower. The fields have a bit of hog damage so we have to go slowly anyway. The L5740 might as well be cutting 12' as 6' per pass.

It also works well on the M7060.

I also thought that running a 12' mower behind one machine and a 10' mower behind the other was preferable to a 15' on one and a 6' on the other. Ok, perhaps that is a wash.

So, I went with a lighter wing mower for versatility. For my situation, it worked out very well.

Good luck with whatever you choose.

I went with the 4715. $15900. Could have got one for $15300 but the dealer in somerset was a cluster..you know what.

Very satisfied with it.

That is a nice mower, I would also agree with the poster that mentioned more hydraulics.
I see just two lines going back, one for the wheel lift on a single action cylinder, and one too both of the wing cylinders also single acting.
An electric diverter could be plumbed in allow one line have split controls. We have 3 lines on the big batwing makes it possible to hold the deck level or up or down slightly for obstacles or too drop down a bit but hold a wing in the air over a ditch.
