Anyone have any thoughts on the Hawkline rotary cutters? I am wanting to know if they are of the same quality of comparably priced cutters from makers such as Landpride, Bush Hog, etc.

Thanks

Can't comment on their rotary cutter, but I have a Hawkline 7K tandem trailer and really like it. Much stronger than most of the Texas-made stuff. The difference in quality there is obvious.

From just looking at their stuff at the dealer, they look to be much better quality than the King Cutter or Howse stuff, but I'm not sure how they'd stack up against Woods, Bush Hog, etc.

I have a Hawkline 6' HD 3pt 80 hp hog that's 2 yrs. old. It's great. I've chopped down 3" hardwood saplings with it no problem. I did run into blade issues with it. I broke a blade and purchased a set of BushHog blades not knowing the bend was different.
I chopped off the gearbox nut and shaft and had to replace the gearbox short of rebuilding my existing gearbox with a new shaft.
The gearbox was only +/-$250.00 shipped to the door. Not bad considering what you got. The whole ordeal was due to my own fault, not sizing up the blades.
I would have to say I think they are the better hogs on the market price and construction vs the others as far as I've seen.
I'll be buying an 8' 3pt unit in the spring to go along with a 75 hp tractor upgrade.
Another tidbit to consider... the Hawkline hogs are square backed. So if you have bigger stuff to mow, your better off to back over the trees, shurbs etc. to keep your tractor from taking all the abuse going foreward over everything. The higher end brush hogs such as the Bush Hogs have a rounded back. The rounded back hogs backing over heavier objects tend to bend the back of the hog under where the blade will strike the sheet metal causing problems. Been there, done that. Stick with a square backed hog!

We have sold that cutter for at least 20 years with zero gearbox failures due to defects in the product. We have sold them under the names of International, IMC, WAC, Hawlkine and there maybe a change in name coming in the next year as they have been recently purchased by a larger company. They are the best quality/features value for the $ spent out there, No matter the brand. Ken Sweet

I'm looking at buying an 8' 3 point HD hawkline hog in the spring.
After looking at Bahlen Country's web site which is who bought Hawkline, I don't see the 8', 3pt, HD. Are they still available?

I have the smaller 50hp (IIRC) 6-ft Hawkline hog. Works fine, no problems. It's stored on 4x4 blocks in the field with a tarp over the gearbox.

Do you have a local dealer? We do have the 7 ft 3 point in stock for $1995. The 8 ft models comes in pull and 3 point, we have the 8 ft pull model in stock. We just special order the 8 ft 3 point for customers that desire that model. Ken Sweet
