Have a few of this and that...but I bleed green!
We are looking to build a pond within 50' +/- from an existing hay barn. I am wondering if anyone knows of any complications with humidity and/or mold problems we could encounter with having water this close to the barn. It looks like the pond could be up to 20' deep - the barn is close to the dam side.

The County Ag agent and Soil and Water Office didn't seem to think there would be a problem.

Any thoughts??

I don't know about humidity, but if you have mice in the barn, snakes from the pond might be a problem.

Hi,
I have a barn 20 feet from my horse and hay barn. The only thing I worry about is a horse getting in the pond. I do get alot of garter snakes in the barn. But no problem for me good for getting rid of mice and bugs and such.

I enjoy taking a break by the pond. because its so close. Its very relaxing.

P.s. I have found no problem with excess humitiy in the barn.

Don't let anyone declare it a "wetlands". Make sure you can drain it. The previous owner of my place built a pond (3 acre) which is now a "wetlands". The pond is pretty, but the presence of wetlands has made doing anything on my property very tough.
