Haying with 7520

Same here except with the 7010 cab. These engines have a ton of power and the turbo really helps them pull. I'm cutting with an 8ft cut Fort First Choice disc mower and planing to roll with my Vermeer roller unless I can find a good square baler fast.

I'm going haying this year with my new 5525
I only have 10 acres total with about 7 available for haying. I can't justify the expense of a nice disc mower like yours. Instead I'll try to get by with my $150 Allis Chalmers 80T trailer mower (6 ft bar)
Yesterday I picked up a nice MF-124 square baler locally for $2K. It's in excellent shape, last used a few days ago on a 35-acre hayfield. New chains, new knives, no missing pickup teeth, a little surface rust, lotsa grease.
Still need a small (10ft) grain drill with grass box. Hope to find one around here pretty soon.
Question: what are you planting? Irrigated or dry land? If irrigated, what method are you using?

My dealer's salesman and service manager bought one for their hay baling needs and love it.
This right after I took delivery of my 6520 4WD. I have kicked myself for not going with the 7520 , but not lately.

Disc mower is a 9 footer. I gotta watch clearence in transport mode! Tractor shifts slightly as mower goes vertical. Sure glad those rears were filled!
Going with rounds - bought 100 squares last winter and feeding cattle 10 squares at a time was too much like work.
I have 100 acres lined up for this summer, the goal is to feed my gals without buying hay.
JW - I've got a Vermeer roller as well, it is the easiest to operate baler, although I must confess I'm not using the monitor to it's full potential.
Flusher - Nice rig! There is a definite demand for squares here, just no labor. I think I could leave squares in the field for the landowner, just not sure if they would pay me cash instead of the share I usually work on. If I had a trailer like yours, I could cover a bigger area, and haul my share home. I've got a real job, and don't know if I want to go into the custom hay business.
Brandi - your expertise makes up for the 10 hp difference, plus, there's always the trade in option!

Thanks for the compliment. Someday I do want to try my hand at raising hay. When I was little, Dad had the neighbor plant an acre of corn on my Mom's parent's land. Dad had a little two wheel David Bradley tractor pulling a trailer we threw the corn in. Then we hauled it to a local feed mill that ground it and sacked it for our calves we were rasing for freezer beef. I really enjoyed seeing a crop turned into feed and then into beef.
But for now I will settle with getting proficient with my loader and backhoe playing in the dirt. I will never trade in the Big RED Beast. She, along with Booger and I have too much fun together and the BRB has opened a lot of doors for me.

Always good to see a neighbor on here. Actaully, we are probably as far away from each other as geographically possible, with both being in Hampshire County. I'm between High View and Capon Bridge, right on the state line.
I've dealt with D&G for a number of years, which is whom I assume you got your Vermeer and Manhindra from. There are no better dealers around anywhere.
