Bought my 4310/300CX in the middle of a BIG dirt project and needed bucket teeth fast. I had them on the old tractor but they wouldn't work on the new bucket.
Luckily we have a shop locally that services the coal mines, they have a huge inventory and great prices. I picked up the 23 series teeth and adaptors I had used to make the bar for my 210 loader. Well, with the 3/4" wear edge of the HD bucket they just weren't going to work. They recommended I bring the bucket with me when I returned the teeth so they could see what they had. 3 guys spent about forty minutes trying dozens of different teeth on the bucket! Man, I LOVE places that still have service!! I even appologized for taking up their time with such a small sale and they said "that's what we're here".
What we ended up with was a BYG "Mini-03" one piece tooth for a mini excavator at $7 each. They fit the cutting edge very well, forward bolt holes line up with the ones already driled in the bucket (for the bolt on wear edge) and they sit completely flush with the bottom of the bucket. Used a 7/16" plow bolt after countersinking the hole at bottom of the bucket (just so the bolts sit flush). A carriage bolt could be used with out counter sinking, you would just have a little protrusion.
I originaly wanted teeth to weld to a bar like my old set-up. More for the added strength than the ability to remove it (my old one was removable with two bolts and it came off once!). The shop guys all agreed that the 3/4" wear edge would be plenty strong and that a bolt would fail before the edge bent. After 80 hours of dirt, gravel (removing a 30 year old road!) and pulling 3 trees, they were right. I popped one center tooth off trying to use it to pry a tree stump out> I know, that should go into the what not to do with an FEL thread:ashamed: The bolt seperated cleanly. A new bolt and that tooth was back on in minutes.
The only down side is that the spacing of the existing bolt holes isn't ideal for tooth spacing at 6" on center and 10 holes. I bought 10 teeth but decided to space them out a little for now. They look a little funny but have worked great! Besides, I can re-arrange them and add or remove teeth anytime
If you're looking for teeth on the cheap this has worked great for me!
