Branson 3510
Since my husband doesn't have his tractor yet, he has been reading his manual from cover to cover. He asked me to ask you good folks what type of oil you are using. He has always used Mobile 1 synthetic in all his equipment. He can't find or has overlooked what Branson recommends - type and weight if you please.

About a picture - will send one by and by. However, use your imagination. When he test drove his new tractor, he had just come from a funeral mass in Little Rock. He didn't even take time to change clothes. So, there he was, dress pants, long sleeve dress shirt, tie and loafers in 97 degree heat driving around on his tractor-to-be. And you guys make jokes about us blondes!!!

Thanks again,
Denise - brand spanking new 3510

Denise, I think you'll find that the most common oils used in the diesel engines are Shell's Rotella and Chevron's Delo 400; 15W-40 in either brand. And of course there are synthetics that are quite popular with many of our members. Just be sure it's an oil rated for diesel use.

I use Shell Rotella 15w40 and haven't had a problem with it. I changed my oil at 50 hrs and then 100 hrs after that. Mine takes 7 qts.

Are you using Mobile One in the transmission, hydraulic, PTO and power steering cases as well??

I'm switching over to Shell Rotella synth after the break-in period.

My advice would be, put your 50 hours on the engine, than make the switch if desired.

No, I use tractor hydraulic fluid for those (except for the power steering, which I don't have). You can get synthetic THF if you want (like Kubota Super UDT for example) but it's very expensive.

Horseygal, welcome to the growing group of Branson owners. I am much like your husband, having switched to Mobile 1 syn in all my vehicles. I know that since he is a customer of that brand, I would stay with it for the Branson as well. I switched mine over to the suv/truck for diesels mobile 1 5W-40W at my 50 hr change. I now have apprx 140 hrs on the tractor. You can buy at wally world in 1 gal jugs. I really like the synthetic for cold winter start-ups.

If your husband is anything like me... he will be all teeth for a month or so... so you better get used to the smile he can't wipe off his face. For us men, it is like being a little kid at xmas time again. Many of us on this forum understand his excitement.

And what a friend this tractor can be on a small farm. I use mine for everything. Today, I am going out to load the front end loader with some sweet corn. I wish you and your husband many happy hours tractoring..
