Finally got the time between Church & fancy Easter lunch to get out to the garage, get the head on, set the valve clearance, and get her back together. The head checked out good for cracks, but was slightly warped in the center, and that's where the gasket had blown. The machine shop ground it just a little bit to get it back to factory spec.

The lift pump at the filter leaked a little fuel when I tried it (but does not leak when unused), so I used the compression release & had her bled in no time. She fired, died, fired, stuttered, and then ran like a champ!! I quickly shut her down when I realized I had neglected to refill the radiator:eek::eek::eek::eek: and filled it with 50/50 mixture.

The machine now starts easier, runs quieter, and has a good bit more power at lower RPMs than she did at higher RPMs. I'm very happy with the way she runs!!:):D:laughing:

I'm also really glad for all the help I've been given here right from the get-go. A lot of people have given a lot of advice about a lot of stuff I didn't know about and couldn't have handled myself. A sincere thanks to all of you!!!!!!!!
I know diesels pretty well, I'm ok with basic maintenance, but I'm no mechanic, and don't know much about tractors at all (though I'm catching on quick). This forum has made all the difference!!!!!!!!!!!

All right, it wouldn't be a post by me without some more questions!!

Anyone know the capacity of the front axle gear oil? I'm about to replace the knuckle seals (which are both leaking) before I use the tractor.

Also,I have no idea how to get the knuckle apart!! Any guidance would be appreciated....... ;)

Final question: What type of temp gauge do I need for the 2210? Anything else I need to know before I try this project?

Thanks in advance for the help!

That's terrific! I'm glad you got it back together, and that it works! A 2210D is the tractor I'd really like to find.

I have never taken a front axle on a Yanmar apart, just my Kubota. It looks like there are a couple seals though, according to Hoye's diagram. Which one is it? It looks like you can do like me and just start taking stuff apart until you're deep enough to work on whatever you need....

Drain the axle into a container that you can estimate (or read) the volume from. Buy that much gear oil, plus another container, then you know you're at least close. Or wait and have someone who knows what they're talking about just tell you, rather than me! However, I've read it takes awhile for the oil to percolate throughout the front of these machines; that's why I'd start draining it now. I'd want to get it all out if I'm going to bother replacing it.

Here is a good set of instructions. Your model will hold right around a gallon of oil. Make sure you run it, check it, run it, etc. Takes a while for the heavy oil to reach all the cavities. Yanmar Tractor Parts
