I want to install a switch for my headlights so they are not always on. I know some of you have already done this modification, so do you happen to have any pics? I am interested in what kind of switch you used, where you mounted in and how you spliced it in. Thanks!

I am planning to tie into the "headlight wiring harness" right before it connects to the main wiring harness. Cub sells the headlight wiring harness separately for around $9 so it wouldn't be as bad to replace just that part of the harness, if need be. That connection is on the right side of my GT2550 so I was thinking of mounting the switch on the right side of the dash, somewhere around the ignition switch.

As for the switch, I've been looking at these rocker switches. Specifically #66-2286 because I think it would look more like a factory install than an afterthought. My only concern with that particular switch is the size of the whole (0.80") required to mount it. The other one I like is #66-2281 and it only requires a 1/2" hole, but I think it would look like more of an add-on. Both of these switches have a blue LED that illuminates when on. The LED's come is various colors, but I thought blue would be a good color for the lights, kinda like the high-beam indicators on most cars.

Anyway, I'd love to see some pics.

Thanks for the link. I ordered the 66-2286 yesterday. $7 with shipping. I too was looking for a switch that didn't look like an afterthought.

Man, that switch does look factory....nice. :)

I just used what I had available, I may yet change it around again anyhow. The switch on the left is the headlight switch. I just ran a ground wire through the factory harness and cut the ground to the lights near the end of the harness and connected to mine.
