Undo both cylinders from the bucket and see if you can push them in and out by hand with any amount of force, if one of them is broke or the nut came off it should just slide in quite freely, make sure you don't pull it right out if it is broken. If neither is broken then you may have blown the packing on one or the other. I'm betting only one of your cylinders is bad. I doubt it is your spool valve though there is a possibility.

Before you start breaking the cylinders down verify the cylinders are the place to start by swapping the hydraulic hoses from the up/down and curl function hoses on the control valve since they are just simple QDs.
Also check to verify you have no rear remotes open/operating....I actually had this happen to me today and lost up/down only.

It does sound to me that the piston came off one of the rams. You can probably determine which by simply lifting the cylinders when they are about 1/2 extended--the one with the most slop/movement is your guilty party. Without the piston connected to the rod you will get a bit of movement. Easy and quick check.
