I found an 2022 thread on the subject but it was under "chainsaws" so I thought that a new thread was in order.

My wife is getting one implanted next month. The APRN told us that this device will communicate in real time but was not sure if it was via cell signal or Wi-Fi but whatever, pretty cool! Never a smoker, drinker, drugger, etc but she has been having issues for quite some time. TAVR in 2022, ablation a year ago February for afib. She had a lot of scar tissue in her upper right chamber when they did the ablation so the results were limited and while she no longer had afib, her heartbeats run high and low.

She also has "central" sleep apnea, lung issues and is on oxygen. Life can be a challenge! Thanks for listening.

Good timing, wife just left for the night as I am staying the night in the hospital. Got a new ankle installed this morning.

Suxs getting old but beats the alternative!!!

My father in law had one implanted about a year ago. It’s helped a lot, he had a low heartbeat, it got as low as 40. His also somehow can be downloaded and they can look at the data.

The implant will be done on either April 11th or the 18th. I'll post when I find out more.

I got pacer maker,doctor keep reminding me to take slow least couple of month...hint..hint.

Good morning, I have been working for a medical device company in “CRM” (cardiac rhythm management) for 25 years. You will get a monitor to take home that will download information from the pacemaker and send it to your medical team periodically, or if there are any “alerts”. You also may have the option to put an app on her smart phone to accomplish this.

Sounds like she has classic tachy/brady syndrome (to fast or too slow)

I hope she feels better with the pacemaker!

Good info, thanks. We were talking to a friend today who said that his father was the same way. He got instant relief when he got the implant so we are hoping.

Wife got the pacemaker surgery yesterday. I keep asking her if she feels any different? She just says that she has pain from the incision so time will tell.

Her devise is made by BIOTRONIK. It came with a cellular transmitter that communicates with some monitoring service while she is sleeping. The doctor can send a message to call. No text, just a phone icon shows up.

The module uses T-Mobile. My area has no T-Mobile towers. It is supposed to tell me if there is a signal issue but nothing is being indicated. I'll give it a couple of days then ask the doctor's staff if they are getting info. I can also take the module to an area with a known signal and it will upload any info.

I have only read enough of the manual to set it up. I am not sure if it will utilize my Hughesnet Wi-Fi?

A little update here. My wife's pacemaker is working fine but she's had a rough time too say the least. She's had a lot of swelling and bruising and was in extreme pain. On top of that, she was on doxycycline which upset her stomach.

She's coming around now. The swelling and bruising are fading away.
