I will most likey have to use my BX at temps around -30 F this winter and even though I will see temperatures much colder than that I will have to be in some serious dire straights to operate the tractor in those conditions. Even though the tractor comes with the synthetic lube in the transmission I don't want to rely on that alone to flow at those kind of low temperatures. I have heat pads on my vehicles oil pans and automatic transmissions (I've even used them on manual trannies and manual steering boxes) but I am uncertain as to putting them on my BX1500. Even though I cannot use my brand new MMM since we already have snow and I just got the tractor, I still haven't removed it from the tractor so I cannot see under the tractor to look for a good spot on the tranny to install a heat pad. Has anyone else here installed one of these on their BX? Any input would be appreciated greatly! Thank you.

Where do you live that you already have snow? Only place that I know of that has snow already is Alaska and Northern Canada.
If the tractor is in a garage, the block heater should be sufficient to start the tractor in your weather and the transmission will warm on its own. I suggest that you take the MMM off and on a few times so you get familiar with it. That way, by next spring, you will still remember how to do it. Good luck with your new tractor.....

His screen name is AKFord and he's talking about -30* and snow already. I assumed the AK stood for Alaska.

Are you talking about sump heaters like this web page
I have a similar 250 watt unit on 2 of our cars, and they work great. I'll have to look under the BX and see if their is room for one of these units.

(You probably already know this if you live in AK), You have to scrape all of the paint off of the surface you are going to mount the heater to.

Briguy,

Yes, that is exactly what I am talking about. It would seem like a good idea to install one of those as they work quite well on oil pans and tranny pans.

Junkman, Bandit67 was right, I live in Alaska. The snow is on the ground though it is come and go at this point depending on where exactly you live. I'll see some cold temps this winter and hopefully the BX will be up to the challenge. I wouldn't give it a second thought if it wasn't for the HST, that makes me nervous in the cold weather.
