We used to have a sauna in our previous house. I would set a timer to preheat the sauna at certain time. Then we would take cross country skiing run 20 - 30 km or went skating on the near by lake. When we returned home the sauna was ready. We bought all the wood, door and the electric heater from a Finnish company that has factory (I think) in Minnesota.
Most people in the USA prefer Jacuzzi (hot tub). But I think sauna is much healthier and way cheaper to operate. I plan to build a tornado shelter, insulate it and turn it into a sauna.
Looks good. Is the sauna normally built as a separate building from the house? Or is it a room in the house?
That sounds really good way to use sauna, when You came outside where is really cold and then go to warm sauna it wheels really good, don't You agree.?
Then You can go Your shelter and warm up sauna when tornado rampage outside...
But get seriously, do You live on "Tornado alley", do You see tornado's near You place. ?
