I have been tossing around the idea of a carry all to use on my super dexta to make it more of a universal machine. I like the overall look of the king cutter carry all but I was just looking for a little more strength. This is the plan Ive had in my mind for some time now.

5'x6' platform
made of 3" ,1/4" wall angle
lots of extra gusseting and bracing
receiver hitch on the rear (just mainly for moving empty trailers)
gooseneck ball on top above the 3PH

Let me know what you think of this, feel free to critique

I have a set of pallet forks that go on the 3 point hitch and they work real good. They can lift all the 3 point will and then some. I built a couple of 3 sided crates to move firewood with 4'x6' and they will hold enough to lift the front of my old Ford NAA. Only thing missing is the TNT.

Here is a few pictures of one simular to what you are thinking on, that I built last fall. It is big enough to carry my ladder, cables, chains, come-alongs, 2 chain saws, etc. that I use to fall trees. I chip up the tops right away while they are still clean and not sandy to keep my chipper blades sharp, then I buck up/split the trees in place [again, don't want to dull up my chainsaw blade by draging the trees somewhere], then load the wood into the carry-all to where I stack it. Anyway, works for me.

I have thought about finding a set of pallet forks but there is just to much temptation there to be lifting more than I should especially with the little dexta.

Thats a good looking rig youve got there, I was thinking along the same lines just not quite as tall.

Does anybody know what thickness of material is used in the king cutter carry all? (1000 Pound model)

If you build it with 3x3x3/16 angle and brace it well as Jerry has done it will handle your next larger tractor too. I don't see the need for the 1/4" thick angle that would be overbuilt.

Jerry-
Nice build and disciplined use of materials - it looks very sturdy without being overbuilt. Like that tool scabbard, too - was that a home-built?

Ive been known to overbuild things anyway so it would be the first or last time, do you think with the 3''x3''x3/16'' angle it would support say, 1500 pounds or more with proper bracing?

So Jerry, you take that out to the job site and set it off, then go back and get the chipper?

I load up and knock down several trees at a time. Most of the trees I have been taking down lately are big beeches that are in bad shape and need to be cut out. They are in the 100 foot range and about 18" to 24" in diameter, and you have to pull them down with a cable to control direction for the least amount of collateral damage to the surrounding trees. I wack the limbs off and buck up some of the smaller stuff, then put the chipper on the back of the tractor and chip the limbs. I have a JD420 [ 20hp Onan garden tractor, not the old JD 420 ] that I use to pull a Harbor Freight horizontal/vert splitter. Once I get the rest bucked up to 20" lengths, I pull the splitter out. I roll/shove/lift the big blocks of beach up to the verticle spitter, plop the block onto the splitter, then set my arse onto an upturned pail to horse the block around while I split. I move the splitter alot, so I don't have to manhandle the blocks much. When I get it all split, I pick up with my shinny new carry all. The nice 20" split stuff gets stacked and covered for use some winter. And the little stuff and odd pieces get taken into the barn and stacked to burn green that winter. Here is one of them when I was just about done chipping, tractor w/chipper is behind it.
