We only got 18" of snow, but the winds were running 40-50MPH all night long and the drifts are incredible! The worse one was right in front of the garage -- a wall of snow that was higher than the garage doors! /forums/images/graemlins/shocked.gif

Poor Clementine was in the carport which gave her no shelter at all from the wind-blown powder. There was two feet of snow covering the hood, and the entire operator's area was covered to the same level so she looked like a huge ice cube with a blade on one end and a FEL on the other...with a ROPS sticking up out of the mess!

Our poor plant manager was supposed to pour his basement tomorrow, but called in today to report his entire basement is filled with snow level with the ground. It all has to be removed before the concrete trucks arrive on Saturday!

Guess winter's here! /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif

Very light dusting of snow over here..whew..but my share of braches etc.. to pick up this weekend tho. /forums/images/graemlins/frown.gif

In way its good to have little snow and frozen ground,so the cement truck doesn't do to much damage.
Looks like you should have a good day tomorrow pouring your floor Pete..30's and sunny. /forums/images/graemlins/cool.gif

Just was at our neighbor's property whose house is deep in the woods. She lives alone and when she was headed to work this morning, she found a four foot diameter oak had dropped across her driveway. I cut blocks out so she could get through and moved them with my tractor. The winds reached 66 MPH here yesterday and there are many homes that have been damaged by falling trees. We were without electric for five hours yesterday and some people are still out.

Right where my son was at one time planning on building his home, a large cottonwood tree fell diagonally across the site. That should end the discussion of whether to build in or at the edge of the woods.

There was a lady kill yesterday by a falling tree that landed on her car as she was driving down a road.

Winds are light today and warm weather is in the forecast so we will send it to you soon.

Just a dusting in Fairfield Pete but a drift right across the garage door. /forums/images/graemlins/mad.gif Had to break out Old Blue. Since I had it out went down to the corner. A drift 4 ft. high and about 10 ft. across was blocking the driveway. Did a couple of pass's and got back to the garage. Sue had to take the truck today because she's been putting of changing her tires. All season's just don't hack it.
Guess it's time to but up the snowfence!! /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif The good news it the new sugar housed didn't blow over!! /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif
Take care

Al -- Tam and I went to the Grange meeting in Burlington last night and were amazed to see just a dusting of snow in the valley. Looks like it all hit the western hills. Also looks like we got another 6 inches or so last night...and it's still coming down. We put our snows on last weekend, but maybe it's time for Clementine's ice chains!

We got it here too. about 10" in the valley and 24" up in the mountains. Was really rough going. All the plow trucks had chains. We (3 of us) plowed for a combined total of 32 hrs on Friday to get 110 drives open. There were 2 drifts that were higher than the hood on the chevy! Wish my 74" snowblower had come in /forums/images/graemlins/mad.gif. We had a lot of wind but no real damage. Supposed to be near 50F this week /forums/images/graemlins/crazy.gif.

Derek -- You wouldn't believe how much I'm counting on that forecast to be accurate! My electrified mesh is frozen to the ground, and that has to come up for winter storage or I can kiss $200 goodbye! Also, I rebuilt the carb on that old 57 Dodge truck of mine and the darned thing actually runs! Still have to fiddle with the throttle linkage and the choke, but if the PowerFlite tranny works I'm hoping to drive it home when the snow and ice melt away. Sure would be nice to have it in the garage, safe and sound, so I can tinker as time is available. Having it at the service station was nice, but with it so far from home there was no chance of spontaneity. Sure don't want it wintering out in the weather!
