Heck of a Week and Squirrel Chews hole in Tiller Gas Tank

I took the week of July 4th off. I had a few vacation day to use or loose. Big plans...

Day 1, bee stung on wrist; allergic but no reaction. Duck taped a ice pack to my wrist and continued to set out daylilies for my wife. She carried epipen just in case.

Day 2 Tandem load of mulch delivered, spread it between rains...got spider bit, tracks going out my arm but ok.

Day 3 Battery dead in sons car, removed, get new one, put in and finish spreading mulch.

Day 4 - 6 Did not stretch out my back that morning after spreading mulch, twisted and pull muscle in lower back, 3 1/2 days with walking stick...watch some good movies

Day 7 Back getting better

Day 8 Back to work...air-conditioner out in company car, take to Ford dealership

Day 9 Drive wife's Explorer while company car in shop...rear tire low, go to add air, see nail in tire.

Day 10 Physical......clean bill of health, no meds :thumbsup:

Oh yea...squirrel chewed a small hole in the top corner of my Troy Horse Tiller. Used some duct tape for quick fix to till for daylilies. I need to order a new tank and shoot the squirrel but until then any one know of a better way to fix this? Plastic tank.

And don't say take a torch and melt it

I found a hole in the top of the plastic gas tank on my DR Mower. I don't know if a critter did it or if a hoe fell on the tank. :confused3:

At first, like any good TBNer, I used duct tape. :laughing::laughing::laughing: That did not work so well.

The gas would slosh out of the hole, wet the tape, and the glue would release....

I found some sort of gas tank fixer upper stuff at the auto parts store that worked great and was pretty cheap. The stuff is like clay and you just broke off a piece and molded it into the hole. The stuff dries up pretty quick and is rock hard when dried. You can sand it smooth as I remember but I did not bother. Seems like there were two parts of the clay that had to be worked together and that it heated up as you worked the stuff.

There was quite a selection of this material at the store. Just make sure you get the stuff that was for fixing fuel tanks and could handle the exposure to gas. It has worked perfectly for years now and was MUCH cheaper than buying a new gas tank.

I don't know if it will work on a gas tank but I fixed a small hole in my 12 v atv sprayer with a hot glue gun. it worked well.

I have used the hot glue gun on more than one plastic fuel tank, and are still holding. Even glued a leaking float on a generator for a customer. Ice storm, and customer had been without power for 3 days, with no heat. Hasn't been back for float replacement yet.

I'll bet J B Weld would work. With all the wierd things that have happen so far, the rest of the year ought to be nothing but good luck.:thumbsup:

I have used something similar to that to repair a hole in galvanized pipe. I will check into it.

Hot glue gun and JB Weld good ideas, I have a hot glue gun but no JB.

Good ideas guy's!
