I found this forum and have fallen in love with the content. I love to build stuff and probably would have to live to 125 to get all the things built that I have in mind but.... I have built a '34 Ford Five Window Coupe Street Rod, a '37 Chevy Two Door Sedan Street rod--sold them both and then restored a numbers matching '70 Challenger 440 Six-Pack, 4-speed, Dana Plum Crazy screamer that I still own. I have a Mitsubishi Deisel Tractor, Case 1150C Track Loader w/4 way bucket and a New Holland Lx485 Skid Steer. I have built a Root/Brush Grapple, a Pig Pole and a Backhoe attachment for the Skid Steer. I have two Mig Machines, one 8000 watt Lincoln Gasoline Welder/Generator (wired to the house for back-up) a Lincoln AC/DC buzz box in my shop and a TIG set up. I have been employed at a Power Plant in West Virginia for 34 years and metal is usually not an issue to acquire. Carbon steel plate, angle, bar, sheet, channel, H & I beams, hex bar and even some Stainless Steel from time to time. I do feel for you guys that have trouble sourcing materials---I have been blessed at my facility. Well, I will sign off for now but rest assured I will be around reading all the great information in this forum and you all should be proud of your innovative ways.

a pig pole is a cherry picker, boom crane, or adevice mounted on the 3ph for lifting things to heavy to pick up yourself, there are threads on here where guys have mounted them on thier fels

I think the term pig pole comes from the device used when a pig is slaughtered and needs to be scalded to remove the hair they would attach its hind feet to a pole and lift it up and into a vat of boiling water and dunk it up and down in the water.

That's sorta what I had in mind. It sure did make things easier at hog killin' time after we got a boom pole for the old WD45. Maybe it was a pig pole and we just called it wrong.
