Long time lurker and procurer of many tips, tricks and advice. Based on the combined knowledge and opinions of many on this site, I have sitting in my driveway a new {to me} ym 2000, accompanied by a 4' box blade and 4' brush mower, pto overrun clutch and 4 suitcase weights. A FEL in on the wish list. Maybe in a couple of months. This is my first tractor and will be used to slowly but surely clear several acres on a 10 acre tract of land that I own in Arkansas. The area was cut for timber last year and has over grown a bit since then.
Now for the rest of the story. While the tractor is in the driveway, I'm stuck on a lineboat [towboat] on the Arkansas river till about the 22nd of july. Talk about life not being fair!!! I am like a kid in a candy store that can only look at the candy but not touch. The anticipation is killing me, which is also making it seem like each day is lasting twice as long as normal. Anyway if I did this right, there will be a picture of the tractor at the bottom of this post.
I don't have any unreal expectations for the tractor, but believe that taken in small sections at a time, this is a very do-able project. Fortunately, my work schedule is 30 days on and 15 days off, so I will have plenty of time to get the feel for it before I have to go back to work.
To all who have influenced me, I thank you. If you are wondering if this was you, it probably was. To John, James and Stuart at RCO Tractors, thanks. I will make updates about the tractor, pros and cons, satisfaction level etc... after working it for awhile.
