I am from NE Georgia and live on a small family owned farm. We have a 20 year old Zetor that is on it's last leg. Previously we had a Ford 8N. Recently I started looking for a new tractor and I found out quickly that I got different suggestions about tractors from all of my friends that was based on what they owned. Tractor owners are a loyal group:stirthepot:.I joined just to get a few more points of view. I am currently leaning toward a LS4046.

Welcome. I've lived in Georgia for years, nice folks. You'll get a lot of tractor advice, but the major brands are all pretty good for average small or hobby farmers. I think the best idea is to choose one that is comfortable for you to operate and which has a really good, service - oriented local dealer. For newbies, a good dealer is awfully important. You can size it based on the size tractors you see folks around you using for the same kinds of things you plan. Then there's your budget. Used is always an option but, unless you are pretty good with tractor mechanics, you'll want someone who is knowledgeable to check it out for you. And do consider used for your implements. Most implements last a very long time, and you can be them used for a small fraction of the cost new. All my implements were bought used.

Good luck.

To TBN from Alabama. I liked living in Georgia, but around Atlanta, most of the people were from somewhere else.

:welcome: from S/W Ohio

Make sure you go to plenty of dealers and sit and operate all models you are considering
not all people are the same size or have wear and tear on our bodies that would maybe help in operating for an extended time

My :2cents:

Welcome from Georgia! Kubota is very popular because many of the smaller tractors are final assembled in Gainesville, GA. You are close enough to SC that you could purchase from there also. The AGCO world head quarters is in Duluth GA, they have Massey Ferguson as a brand among others.
