Hello all.
My son graduated from agricultural high school last year, and wanted to farm. Dad not being a rich man, we rented a 21ha farm just out side Cullinan and he started farming on a shoe string budget.
His first tractor, we borrowed from my ex-boss, a Massey Ferguson 35X. But I unfortunately got retrenched, and had to give the tractor back. We needed a tractor urgently and had no money.
So a friend of mine had a Same Falcon 50 with a broken engine. He offered it to me, still parked at the repair workshop, disassembled for R10 000 ($500US) on the never never terms. We fetched it, and in all the excitement did not tie it down properly on the trailer, so it ran forward into the back of our bakkie (pick-up). It damped the spirit a bit, but we of loaded it and started packing out the parts like lego.
After checking the engine no and bore we realised its a Mintauro 60. We realised some of the piston rings were stuck due to being fitted upside down. After a whole day of cleaning, honing and burs removal, we assembled it and it runs good!
